Navigating Your Financial Aid Information in MyNMU

Use the step-by-step instructions below to navigate your financial information in MyNMU.  Or, take a look at this demonstration video: (Although the video references a prior aid year, the process hasn’t changed.)

Check your offer 

  1. Log in to your MyNMU account with your user id and password
  2. Click on the Admitted to NMU or Student Services tab
  3. Click on View (in the Financial Aid box of Admitted tab) or Financial Aid - Information (under Student Services tab)
  4. Choose Financial Aid Status
  5. Select the Academic Year you wish to view
  6. Click on the "You have been awarded financial aid" link near the bottom to see your current awards
  7. Scroll down and click on Award Messages for information on your awards

Check for offer adjustments

  1. Log in to your MyNMU account with your user id and password
  2. Click on the Admitted to NMU or Student Services tab
  3. Click on View (in the Financial Aid box of Admitted tab) or Financial Aid - Information (under Student Services tab)
  4. Choose Financial Aid Status
  5. Select the Academic Year you wish to view
  6. Click on the "You have been awarded" link to see your current awards
  7. Click on the "You have active messages" link (from the Financial Aid Status menu) to view the reason for the adjustment to your aid

Check for required information

  1. Log in to your MyNMU account with your user id and password
  2. Click on the Admitted to NMU or Student Services tab
  3. Click on View (in the Financial Aid box of Admitted tab) or Financial Aid - Information (under Student Services tab)
  4. Choose Financial Aid Status
  5. Select the Academic Year you wish to view
  6. Click on the "You have unsatisfied student requirements" link to see what information is required *
  7. Click on any underlined outstanding requirements to print the necessary document

**Some students may see "You have active messages" in addition to, or in place of, "student requirements"   Be sure to click on both the Student Requirements link and the Active Messages link, as any non-standard document requests will be shown on the Active Message screen rather than the Student Requirements screen.  Notifications of any changes to your financial aid package will also appear under Active Messages.

To accept or decline your Federal Direct Loans

  1. Log in to your MyNMU account with your user id and password
  2. Click on the Admitted to NMU or Student Services tab
  3. Click on View (in the Financial Aid box of Admitted tab) or Financial Aid - Information (under Student Services tab)
  4. Choose Award
  5. Choose Award for Aid Year
  6. Select aid year and submit
  7. Click on the Award Overview tab to view award package
  8. Click on the Accept Award Offer tab to complete the accept/decline process
  9. Use the pull down menu near each fund to indicate your decision
  10. To make adjustments after you accept or decline a loan, please e-mail fao@nmu.edu

View your College Financing Plan

The college financing plan contains information about your cost of attendance and financial aid awarded in a standardized format, which facilitates easy comparison with other higher education institutions.

  1.  Log into MyNMU
  2. Click on the STUDENT SERVICES tab
  3. Choose Financial Aid – Information
  4. Choose Federal Shopping Sheet
  5. Select aid year and submit
