Deborah A. Peterson
Professor of Technology and Occupational Sciences
Deborah Peterson has been a teacher in NMU’s cosmetology program for 20 years and has worked in the cosmetology industry since 1978.
Professor Peterson believes that NMU is unique in its diverse course offerings. Students at the School of Technology and Applied Sciences can choose from a variety of degree programs ranging from diploma to baccalaureate, and these degrees often lead to immediate job placement upon graduation.
Professor Peterson says that “the cosmetology program is very fortunate to have numerous graduates employed within the immediate area and world-wide.” It is the school’s mission to work closely with the industry and with learners of all ages, ensuring that the students have the skills required to meet industry needs. She believes that there is no other school within the Midwest that provides the same type of quality education in a beautiful setting with such a dedicated faculty and staff as the School of Technology and Applied Sciences at Northern Michigan University.
