John Centko

Department Head, Technology and Occupational Sciences

Returning to Marquette is coming home for John.  He attended Northern Michigan University and earned an AS in Computer Aided Drafting in 1995 and a BS in Industrial Technology with a minor in Architectural Technology in 1997.  He continued to advance his education at Illinois State University and earned a MS in Industrial Technology in 1999 and completed his Doctorate at North Dakota State University in 2017.

Prior to coming to Northern Michigan University as Department Head for Technology and Occupational Sciences, John spent fifteen years in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities education system.  He was Dean of Academic Affairs for one of Minnesota’s largest community and technical colleges, Minnesota State Community and Technical College, in Moorhead, MN, for thirteen years.  John served two years as the Provost /Vice President at Northwest Technical College in Bemidji, MN, where he focused on developing academic and non-academic community partnership programs to meet regional demands.
