Biology Newsletter
WELCOME! To what we hope will be a recurring NMU Biology Department newsletter. We are hoping that this newsletter will provide an avenue for us to keep our community of biologists up to date, and maybe show off a little about the awesome work being done by our students and staff.
Curriculum
Biology courses emphasize fundamental concepts of biology at the molecular, cellular, organismal, population and community levels. Our many laboratory and field courses provide students with first-hand experience in understanding biological concepts, thus furthering their understanding of life.
Research
The Biology Department is active in a variety of biological research programs led by our faculty. In many cases, both undergraduate and graduate students participate in this work. Students also get access to research opportunities through the numerous student organizations affiliated with the biology department.
Fantastic Faculty
Our biology instructors are second-to-none. NMU's full-time professors specialize in topics including but not limited to cancer research, conservation genetics, evolutionary biology, and neurobiology.
