Academics
The Academic Affairs office at NMU strives to prepare students for a lifetime of professional and community contributions in an increasingly interdependent and culturally diverse world. We are committed to helping provide excellent teaching and student learning for the NMU community, through support resources for new faculty, handbooks and the Teaching and Learning Advisory Council.
Scholarship
The Academic Affairs division is strongly committed to enhancing the pursuit of scholarship by faculty and staff. We are committed to the concept of the teacher-scholar, a distinction that was emphasized by Ernest Boyer when he said that the time has come to move beyond the teaching versus scholarship debate.
Planning
With the implementation of our new strategic plan, this is a great time to be a Wildcat! With the strategic plan as our guide, we’re investing in advancing innovation in all academic programs, in improving the lives of all members of our campus community, in leveraging opportunities provided by our magnificent location in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and in engaging educationally more and more with communities beyond our campus and around the world.
