Welcome to Northern Michigan University’s College of Business! Since 2002, the College has maintained its AACSB International accreditation. The world's leading business accrediting association, this distinction is held by only 6 percent of business schools worldwide.
What does it mean for our students? We have faculty actively engaged in peer-reviewed research and publishing in quality journals in their fields. They continue to learn alongside our students, and regularly bring new ideas and concepts into the classroom.
It also means we hold teaching effectiveness in high regard, and we seek to provide societal impact and beneficial education to our region. Our faculty engage students in high-impact practices that range from undergraduate research to client-based campaign projects to career-building internships.
As the interim Dean, I’m here to help support our faculty and students as we head into an exciting academic year. During the summer, the state legislature passed funding for a new College of Business building. Our recently retired Dean, Carol Johnson called it ‘transformational’ and I agree. The new building will link our faculty offices and instructional space and help Northern Michigan University complete a new academic campus core. We expect to break ground in May 2027 and hope to move in by August 2028. Stay tuned!
My own journey through higher education was transformative. I distinctly remember attending summer orientation and moving into the residence halls as an NMU undergraduate. It changed my life and took me to places I couldn’t even imagine. While my career took me around the country, and sometimes the world, it was a thrill to return to Marquette with my family in 2012.
Now, I get to work with faculty and staff passionate about educating our students. We help students launch into their own transformative paths through education, and already many of our recent graduates amaze me with their early career success.
