Admission to the College

Usually by your junior year of college, you must apply for admission to the College of Business.  Being admitted to NMU is the first step, but students choosing business majors must meet a second set of requirements to formally be admitted to the College of Business. These requirements include: one year of English, designated math, economics, accounting, a computer literacy component, and two other liberal studies courses. This ensures that students in upper-division courses are well prepared for the concentrated material on business subjects.

"NMU does a great job of supporting outside-of-the-classroom educational and professional learning opportunities for students. NMU students - if they take advantage of opportunities - are able to graduate with a private university experience at a public university price.

Hands-On Learning

Join one of our active business-related student groups that may travel to Chicago and Milwaukee to meet with business alumni or bring notable speakers to campus. Maybe you’ll go abroad to work with and test your skills against foreign students in the International Information Technology Seminar. Who knows, you might intern with an NFL team or a leading computer company.

What’s certain is that you’ll really get to know your professors, they’ll know you, and you’ll leave Northern with a wealth of skills to be flexible and successful in whatever you choose to do.
