Before Arriving on Your First Day

First Day

  • Review your "Welcome to NMU" email and benefits orientation materials.
  • Create your username and password.
  • Obtain your Obtain your NMU Wildcat Express ID card.
  • Get your laptop (if applicable) and set up your workstation.
  • Purchase parking pass (if applicable).

First Week and Beyond

  • Get a tour of campus. Ask your supervisor or a co-worker to show you around.
  • Review your job description, responsibilities and expectations with your supervisor.
  • Review department, division and University policies and procedures (access the policies database through this link).
  • Return completed benefit enrollment forms to Human Resources within 30 days of start date.
  • Review NMU's Emergency Preparedness Plan.
  • Complete all required job training.
  • Discuss the performance review process with your supervisor. Information about performance management can be found through this link.
    • Probationary reviews are due within 90-days for TOP employees and within 6 months for all other staff employee groups.
