NMU Police Department is charged with overseeing Northern Michigan University’s homeland security efforts.
This means NMU Police Department facilitates the campus planning for emergencies and terrorist attacks, the training for individuals across campus who would be called upon in such situations and generally educating the campus about emergency planning.
NMU Police Department strongly encourages NMU “families” – whether that means the traditional family or one that consists of your roommates and friends – to have a plan for when emergencies (big or small) happen. Being prepared to address issues like trying to contact family members or having a common meeting place other than your home, can calm a chaotic situation.
For more information on how to plan for emergencies, contact NMU Police Department at 906-227-2151.
