Psi Chi
The purpose of Psi Chi is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology. Our chapter strives to reach these objectives through volunteer and community outreach, involvement in NMU's psychology network, and creating skills for post-graduate experiences.

Andrew Donar, President
Andrew is a 1st year graduate Student with an emphasis in neuropharmaceutical research. He recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychological science at northern michigan university. Andrew's research focuses on evaluating the mechanisms of gabapentin and its potential recreational effects.

Kay Hintze, Vice President
Hi, my name is Kay Hintze! I’m from Macomb, Michigan, and am majoring in Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology and Criminal Justice. I have a research fellowship in the Toegel Labs’ Northern Center for Learning and Health working on clinical trials while participating in other various behavioral analyses. I also have a job working for the FDA when I’m not on campus. Upon graduation, I intend to go to graduate school to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology with an emphasis on forensics. In my free time, I love to read, ski, and get out in nature whenever possible.

Dillon Shekoski, Secretary
Hi, my name is Dillon and I'm the secretary for Psi Chi! My role in our chapter is to maintain a record of previous Psi Chi events & members, as well as keeping notes of all of our meetings for review.

Alaina Grover, Social Media Officer
Hi, I’m Alaina Grover! I’m currently a junior studying Psychology with a concentration in mental health/preclinical psychology, as well as a minor in Art and Design.

Rebecca Balinski, Treasurer
Rebecca Balinski is in her 2nd year of her Master’s program in Psychology. She is involved with the Cancer and Cognition Lab on campus.

Dr. Adam Prus, Psi Chi Advisor
Dr. Prus is a Distinguished Professor and Head of the Department of Psychological Science. He has been a professor at NMU since 2006 and has served as the primary advisor for Psi Chi since 2018.
Information
Membership
Undergraduate students are invited to become members of the Psi Chi International Honor Society if they are majoring or minoring in psychology and are among the top 35% in their class. They must be second-semester sophomores, or a higher class standing. Graduate students may join Psi Chi if they have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and completed one full semester of graduate coursework.
