Advising
Recognizing the breadth and complexity of situations students encounter as they navigate their university experience, we have moved to an advising structure that maximizes the impact of professional advising staff and faculty mentors. Advisors and faculty partner with students, helping them to develop, pursue, and reach their academic, personal, and professional goals and to address and overcome challenges along the way.

Sense of Belonging
We recognize, and research has shown, that students who are connected to and feel like they belong on their campus are more likely to retain, graduate, and be successful in their time at the university and beyond. Our Pick One program encourages students to explore the wide array of groups, activities, and experiences available and engage in at least one opportunity.
I just want to thank Northern for the opportunities and resources it has given me to advance my career but also develop myself as a person. Since coming to Northern and using the resources that it offers, I have been able to grow my confidence and collaboration skills. I find myself a lot more confident in my ideas and it is easier to communicate them with the world because of Northern.
